Three days of clear test results are required before Wellington Water stops the temporary chlorination of the Lower Hutt water supply. As we’ve now had three days of clear testing, the temporary chlorination has now stopped as agreed with Regional Public Health. You may continue to notice a taste or odour in your water for a few more days as the chlorinated water works its way through the reticulated network.

How much do you love dogs? Bruce, a 50 kilogram part Irish wolfhound, is looking for a new home. He's been described as being a bit "chasey" when cats are around but current caretaker Kat Davey said said he just loves everyone. Would you take him on? How do you look after a big dog?

HPV-related cancers take a long time to develop, the viruses are mostly transmitted by teenagers and young adults but often aren’t diagnosed until later. That’s why it’s important for children to be immunised when they are young. Around 80% of people will be exposed to HPV at some point in their life. Protecting children before they are exposed to HPV will protect their health in the future.
For more information about HPV immunisation, see www.health.govt.nz/hpv

At this stage the testing laboratory is unable to confirm what caused the initial positive result at the inlet point of Naenae Reservoir on Friday 3 February. Wellington Water will continue investigating possible sources of contamination.
Chlorination of the water supply to all of Lower Hutt will continue until we have completed a full review of test results. This is to ensure we are taking the safest course of action. We’ll provide further updates on the review process tomorrow.
Regional Public Health are satisfied with the measures put in place to ensure the water is safe and there is no need to boil it before drinking.
