Check out the gardening work being done by Syrian refugee Khaled Al Jouja! He's built his own greenhouse and has planted more than 2000 roses that he plans to sell. Do you think more Lower Hutt residents should be getting out in the garden like this?

This one is pretty simple. You're a Neighbourly member so connecting with your community is obviously pretty important to you. So this tip is more of a challenge; this year (or this weekend!) make it your mission to meet someone new living near you.

Here's a few things you can do to get you started:
- use the Neighbours Directory to find neighbours on your street.
- introduce yourself on Neighbourly to those living in your neighbourhood. Just a few words about yourself and what brought you here.
- Give something away or sell something! A Neighbourly exchange gives you a chance to meet someone new.
- just head out the door and knock on someone else's!

He got out Friday around 11am when I had a delivery made and although his wings were clipped, in this wind and after his moult he will have some lift. he escaped from August Street so could be in Amundsen Grove or Thomson Grove, but also further in the valley or have been blown to Taita.. Hopefully he's holding on to a tree somewhere. If you see him, or hear an unfamiliar bird screech/sound, (he gets very vocal between 5 and 7pm, and around 9am) please call me on 9717571 or 027 9515770 or o21 585 112. He is hand-tame but weary of strangers. Thank you, Anne-Marie
