Passchendaele Centenary Commemorations - 12 October
WW100 invite you to the National Commemorative Programme on 12th October to mark the Battle of Passchendaele centenary. NZ experienced one of its darkest days on 12th October 1917, with the loss of 843 soldiers. This devastating loss of life remains the highest one-day death toll suffered by NZ forces overseas.
The National Commemorative Programme in Wellington is:
3pm – National Ceremony and Belgian Memorial Unveiling – Pukeahu National War Memorial Park. A live stream of these events will be available on the WW100 website and Facebook page and screened at Te Papa (wet weather venue).
5pm – Last Post Ceremony, National War Memorial
6pm – Passchendaele Reflective Event, Te Papa

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
