Peacefully at Addington Gardens on Friday, February 10, 2023, aged 101 years. Husband of the late Audrey. Father and Father-in-law of Jill, Gary and Julie. Grandad of his 6 grandchildren and
9 great-grandchildren. The family wish to thank the staff at Addington Gardens for
their care of Alf during the past year. Messages to

ALLISON, Carol Enid (nee Johnston)

On February 12, 2023, peacefully at Ilam Lifecare; in her 81st year. Dearly loved wife of Ewan, loved mother and mother-in-law of Wayne and Janet, Linda and Simon Barrett, Leanne and Nick Bird, and Gregory and Erin, and a loved nana of Ryan, Emma; Andrew, Dale, Toby; and Lucas. Loved sister and sister-in-law of Aileen and the late Max, the late Betty and Gary, Shirley and Fenton, and a loved aunty and friend. Special thanks to all the staff at Ilam Lifecare for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations to St John Ambulance would be appreciated and may be made at the service. Passed away peacefully on February 12, 2023, at the Mary Potter Hospice, surrounded by love. Beloved daughter of the late Captain RE and Elsie (Elizabeth) Price. Dearly loved wife of the late Ray. Much loved and cherished mother and mother-in-law of Robert and Denise, Diana, and Rosalind and Peter. Treasured Grandma of Shaun, Miriam, Callum & Mi-Rae, Charlotte and William, and Kyle and Dwayne. Special thanks to Sian Williams, the Mary Potter staff and all who helped look after her. COLLINS, Matthew Bruce (Blocker)

It’s with great sadness we need to announce that Matt passed away on Friday 10th February 2023 after a short illness in Wellington Hospital, aged 52 years. If you knew his humour he would want you to think he died in excruciating pain on the toilet, however it was actually peacefully surrounded by his family, but don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story. He is the dearly loved husband and soulmate of Fiona, and immensely proud father of Bianca (deceased), Bradley, and Kaitlyn. Our heartfelt gratitude to all the staff at Wellington Hospital, with a special thanks to Amy and Tom. GILBERT, Grant Stephen

The family are saddened to announce that Grant (63) passed away on the 11th February 2023, after a courageous fight with cancer. Much loved and adored partner of Tracey, & “dad” to Izzy. Much loved son of Geoff (deceased) & Joy Gilbert; loved brother of Megan, Warren & Pauline (both deceased). Respected by Tracey’s brother, Paul; brother-in-law of Grant Cannell & Leanne Gilbert; cherished Uncle of Rebekah, Sean & Frankie Perry, London; Simon Cannell and Eryn Street, Wellington; Shari Gilbert and Shannon Ryan, New Plymouth, and Casey Gilbert and Liam Foreman, Palmerston North. As per Grant’s wishes a private family ceremony was held on 14 February. The family would love you to join them in a celebration of Grant’s life to be held at The Pines, The Esplanade, Houghton Bay, on Sunday, March 12th, at from 2.00-6.00pm, all welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Mary Potter Hospice, Wellington Free Ambulance or Wellington Coast Guard would be preferred. Tracey would like to thank those who have shown love and support to the family at this difficult time.
In the words of Winnie the Pooh- “If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever.”

TURNER, Ronald Bernard (Ron)

It is with great sadness that the family of Ronald Turner announce his peaceful passing on 13 February 2023 at home. Ron is the dearly loved partner of Flo Snowden; loved father and father-in-law to Dean and Susan, Corrine and Tony, Paula, and Gayle; and devoted grandfather to Stacey, Simon, Nicole, Bayleigh, Letitia, and Erana and their partners; and adored great-grandfather of 12. Ron will be dearly missed, forever in our hearts and now reunited with his brother Peter (deceased). Special thanks to the staff of A&E, Ward 3, Ward 6 East of Wellington Hospital, Wellington Free Ambulance, and Mary Potter Hospice for their care and support in Ron’s last few days. Unexpectedly but peacefully at home on Friday 10 February 2023, aged 87. Loved husband of Mavis. Much loved Dad of Neil and Karen, Ian and Nicky, Julia and Richard, Kim and Christian. Loved grandad of all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A service to celebrate George’s life will be held at William Cotton and Sons Chapel, 29 Beattie Street, Feilding, on Monday 27 February 2023 at 1.30pm, followed by private cremation. O’SULLIVAN, Patrick James

Died peacefully surrounded by his family, on Monday 13th February 2023, at the age of 88. Loved husband to Julie, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. A rosary will be said for him on Friday 17th February at 7.00pm, at St Patricks Catholic Church. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Saturday 18th February at St Patrick’s Church in Taupo, at 11.00am. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be given to St John’s Ambulance. The family would like to acknowledge the amazing care given to Pat by the doctors and nurses at Taupo Hospital.

COOPER, John Owen

Of Lower Hutt, formerly Bluff (a proud Southlander). After a lengthy battle with cancer, John passed away peacefully on the morning of February 7, 2023, with his partner, Vivienne, at his side. Dearly loved by his children; Andrea, Shane, Jeremy and Benjamin, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dearly loved by his siblings Carole, Neville and Bev (deceased). John will be missed by many and may he now rest in peace with a glass of Vitamin W (aka Wine) waiting for him at the pearly gates. A private family memorial will be held for John, as per his wishes.

16 July 1948 – 9 February 2023, aged 74. Aue! Ua maliliu toa, ua tagi ai nei le fatu le ‘ele’ele. Ua talai ofu tau, ua vala’au le Atua ia Poto lana auauna fa’amaoni. Passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family. Dearly loved and cherished wife of Fuiono (Dave Faaiuaso) Faaiuaso. Greatly loved mother of David, late Faaui, Filo, Epenesa and Nigel. Much loved mother-in-law to Salome Faaiuaso, Dean Baillie and Sarah Gordon. Much loved Nana to her grandchildren, Leilani and Ariana, Panapa Jnr Lafoa’i (dec), Ishmael, DC, Jack, Daniel & Amy. Beloved sister to Talafou and Alo (Talalelei), Epenesa Ti’i, Niuatala (Opa) and Kea (Siafua). Much loved sister-in-law, cousin, aunty, teacher and friend to many. Poto was a longstanding member of the Samoan Congregational Christian Church (EFKS), Palmerston North, led by Rev Periti and Tiana Fauolo. 15 February 2023 at the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa (EFKS), 39 Havelock Avenue, Palmerston North. The funeral service will be held at 10.00am, on Thursday 16 February 2023 at the same address as above. A burial service with be held at the Kelvin Grove Cemetery followed by lunch back at the EFKS Church hall.

On Saturday, February 11, 2023, at home. Aged 73 years. Dearly loved husband of Wendy for 53 years, loved Dad and Dad-in-law of Steven and Cory (Texas) and Michelle and Dave (Wellington). Loved Poppa of Kyle, Alyssa and Regan (Wellington), Matthew and Alexander (Wellington), and step-Poppa of Madeline and EB (Texas). Loved younger brother of Brian (Richmond), Shirley and Michael (Ashburton), and Noel and Annie (Tasman), and brother-in-law of Rex and Judy, Stephanie and Rex, and Murray and Julie; dearly loved son-in-law of June Shepherd.
