MURRAY, Ian McGregor (Greg)

Greg went gently into that good night with his girls beside him on March 1, 2023 at Christchurch Hospital. Dearly loved by his wife, Wendy (You are the sunshine of my life), and his adoring daughters, Emma and Alice. Best Grandad ever to Joshua, Eliza, Louis, Rosa, Lilybelle and father-in-law to Nick. Loved brother of Caroline, Ken and Linda, David and Lyn and Stephen, his nephew, Hamish and nieces, Annie, Ngahuia, Aneta and Kelly.
He is sadly missed and loved by his many friends.
There will be a Memorial Service for Greg at Pigeon Bay Hall on April 30, at 2.00pm.

BOWERS, Alfred William (Alf)

Passed away peacefully at home on 7 March 2023, in his 89th year. Dearest husband of Raewyn and loved Dad and Step-dad of Julie, Donna and Janine, Steven, Brett and Jayne. Special Poppa to his grandchildren and great-grandies. Big thank you to Tash for her wonderful care and support.

SHAW, Marion Joyce (Joyce)

Aged 98. Passed peacefully with her loving family by her side, on March 3, 2023. Wife and best friend of the late Neville Shaw. Loving, humorous and respected mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and mother-in-law of Sandra Hunt, Libby and Brent Cunningham, Leonie Brown, Alice, and Simon Cunningham, Baie and Sunny Brown. In keeping with Joyce’s wishes, a private service has been held. Joyce has left everyone she knew with so many wonderful memories.

Peacefully at Southland Hospital on March 8, 2023. Aged 64. Loved father and father-in-law of Tim and Fleur (Twizel); Kate and Matt (Oamaru). (Reg No. S822358 Major (Rtd). RNZAMC) – Peacefully at Elmswood Hospital, on Monday, March 6, 2023, aged 87 years. Loved son of the late Lorna and James. Dearly loved brother Clare Bennell (dec), Noeline Saxton (dec), Vera (dec), and Brian (dec), and a loved uncle of all his nieces and nephews. On March 2, 2023 (aged 86) at Cashmere View Retirement Village, Christchurch. HURLEY, Michael Bernard (Mike, Max)

Mike fought a hard but very optimistic battle during his last five year journey but sadly passed away at Middlemore Hospital on March 6, 2023. Dearly loved and treasured husband and companion of Shona, dearly loved father of Luke (deceased) and Max. Dearly loved only son of the late Marie and Des Hurley. Loved brother and brother-
in-law of Helene (deceased) and Gary Stocker (Timaru), Angela and Garth Campbell (Dunedin), Clare and Anthony Gibson (Lincoln), and Kate and Wayne Tibbitts (Wellington). Loved son-in-law of Jim (deceased) and Fay Chisholm (Timaru), and loved brother-in-law of Lois Dungey (Te Anau), Ruth and Rodger Shannon (Pleasant Point), Lynne and Michael Porter (Timaru) and Alison Chisholm (Timaru). Cherished and respected Uncle of all this nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Mike was a great mate, friend and mentor to many. A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at Fountains Memorial Chapel, 35 Wood Street, Papakura, Auckland, at 1.00pm, on Monday, March 13, 2023, followed by a burial at Gatland Road, Cemetery.

LEWIS, Barbara (nee Keen)

Of Hastings (formerly of Wellington and England), passed away peacefully, in her 97th year, on March 7, 2023, enveloped in the love and care of family and friends. Beloved wife of ‘Lew’ and sister of Ernest (both deceased), James (deceased), Michael, Pat (deceased), Brenda, and Yvonne. A “better than your average aunt” to her many nieces and nephews and their children. Our heartfelt thanks to the Staff of Duart House, Havelock North, for their care and compassion during Barbara’s short stay with them. According to Barbara’s wishes, she has been cremated privately.
