On March 3, 2023, peacefully at Christchurch Hospital in
her 95th year. Dearly loved youngest daughter of the late Lillian and Stephen Geary, much loved little sister of Dulcie Mill, Phillipa Geary, Paula Newell and Ngare Rutledge, adored mother of Vincent Lalor Stephen Shiel (deceased) and Christopher William Shiel (deceased), lovingly helped by her close family and friends over recent years. Peacefully on March 3, 2023. Dearly loved wife of the late Doug, much loved sister of Gerald, and Margaret, loved aunty of Richard and Karen, Susan, and Steven, and their families. Jocelyn’s wishes were for a private family farewell.

Ray Kerr died on the Feast of the Assumption (August 15) 2021 but his funeral proceedings were stymied by the second Covid lockdown. The family are marking Ray’s life in the Basilica Parish, at 9am Mass (he was a regular attendee), on Thursday, March 30. Then, at 10.00am Fr Brendan will bless his gravestone at Eastern Cemetery (very close to the Main Gates across from Ascot Park entrance on East Road). After this, at around 10.45am we will have a morning tea function at Ascot Park. All who knew him are welcome to join the family to honour Ray at any or all of these events.

Now that the threat of Covid lock-downs and restrictions seem to be a thing of the past, an Informal Farewell & Celebration of Monica’s life will be held at the Otaki RSA, Raukawa Street, on Thursday 16 March 2023 from 2.00pm.
On March 5, 2023, suddenly and unexpectedly at Christchurch Hospital, aged 58 years. Loved son of the late Matt and Nancy. Loved brother and brother-in-law of Adrienne and Wayne, and Peter. Loved father of Allison, and Matthew. Loving Grandfather and Uncle. A special cherished friend of Jo and will be sadly missed. Special thanks to the team in ICU at Christchurch Hospital for their care for Murray. In accordance with Murray’s wishes, a private cremation has been held.
Passed away on 2nd February 2023, aged 92 years. Dearly loved husband of the late Carola for 62 years. Loved father and father-in-law of John and Fiona, Tom and Jo, Phyll and Stu. Adored
