While the All Blacks noted last week the 30-test rep was done for the year, Chiefs coach Clayton McMillan confirmed to the Waikato Times that it was a ruptured achilles tendon which the 27-year-old had suffered in the semifinal win over the Hurricanes in Wellington on June 15.

They say they don’t understand why State Highway 1 between Tokoroa and Kinleith has to be closed, and felt proposed detours were unsuitable to handle the tens of thousands of extra vehicles using them during the closure.

Clams create a construction water challenge

Pest clams have created a challenge for NZTA as it prepares to extend the Waikato Expressway to Piarere.

The project will need water and Lake Karāpiro’s a nearby source - but it’s also infiltrated by gold clams, first found in the Waikato River in May 2023.
