We cater our programmes to suit the various stages of a girl’s development, offering them to girls in the following age groups: Pippins (5-6 years old), Brownies (7-9 ½ years old), Guides (9 ½ - 12 ½ years old) and Rangers (12 ½ - 17 years old). Becoming a part of Guiding offers girls the opportunity to build friendships, develop important skills, knowledge, values, experience new things and develop a sense of adventure.
We also run various specialist educational programmes such as ‘Free Being Me’ which explore ideas around body confidence and building self-esteem. All our specialist programmes are designed to encourage girls to realise their true worth.
Our programmes are run by adult volunteers within the community. They take on leadership roles and work collaboratively as a team to put together and deliver the many exciting programmes that we offer girls. We provide a range of exciting leadership development opportunities to all our wonderful volunteers to support them in their various roles as leaders of girls and young women.
We would love to be able to bring Girl Guiding to the Te Kowhai area and give local girls the opportunity to get involved and experience what Guiding has to offer. To get started, we would need to know how many girls would be interested in joining each of the age groups (Pippins, Brownies etc.) and how many adults would be willing to take on leadership roles to enable girls to take part - we welcome both male and female leaders to run programmes, so, anyone that is interested is welcome!! This would give us an idea about interest in Guiding within the local area and the steps we need to take to get things going in Te Kowhai
