What is Bone Broth?
Before we start, bone broth is vastly different from the packaged chicken stock you may have used to make soup. Bone broth is made by simmering the bones and connective tissue of animals. It’s a nutrient-dense stock that forms the backbone of many a soup and sauce but can also be drunk on its own. You can make bone broth out of practically any animal – including chicken, beef, fish, buffalo or lamb.
I’d love to share with you ten reasons why I think that bone broth is super health and why you might like to include it in your diet. By the way, if you are vegan or vegetarian, then homemade vegetable stocks are delicious and nutritious for you too.

Today, I'm diving into the glorious world of olive oil. That's right, that golden elixir that has been cherished by civilizations throughout history. Not only does it add flavour and depth to our dishes, but good quality olive oil also comes with a plethora of health benefits.
I've also whipped up a simple pasta dish, a soul-satisfying dish of spaghetti aglio e olio, which basically means olive oil spaghetti. It's the culinary equivalent of a warm hug from Nonna.
With just a few ingredients like garlic, chilli flakes, and a generous pour of good quality olive oil, you can create a dish that dances on your taste buds.

Butyrate is a short-chain fatty acid that is produced by certain gut bacteria when they ferment dietary fibre (prebiotics) ⭐️
We need to eat foods that are rich in these prebiotic fibres so that we promote the growth of butyrate-producing bacteria in the gut.
Such foods include🌿:
Whole grains: Oats, barley, quinoa, and brown rice.
Fruits and vegetables: Especially those that are high in soluble fiber such as apples, bananas, berries, carrots, beets, sweet potatoes and leafy greens.
Legumes: Beans, lentils, and peas are all excellent sources of dietary fibre.
Nuts and seeds: Almonds, chia seeds, flaxseeds, and pumpkin seeds are all high in fibre.
Fermented foods: Sauerkraut, kimchi, kefir, and yoghurt are all sources of probiotics, which can help promote the growth of beneficial gut bacteria that produce butyrate.
Resistant starch: This type of starch is resistant to digestion and can be found in foods such as green bananas, uncooked oats and cooked and cooled potatoes.
Other short chain fatty acids that are important for our gut health (and are also stimulated through good prebiotic-rich diet) include propionate and acetate.
