DPA Northland is a political movement. We want to help support all people in our community that need support! I have disabilities, many people do, certainly, our members do, but DPA also needs the support of nondisabled people. As above our function is not as a social club our function is to ask for change and greater integration into the community for disabled people
We listen to issues face by the disabled and talk to the right people in order for these issues to be resolved for the good of the whole community. We do not supply professional support and services for individuals or groups. We need to be working with councils DHBs Government, we need to be lobbyists, we need to be seen by media we need to find a way to get councils DHBs Government to do more about employment for the disabled.
Give us employment and many other issues would be solved at the same time. DPA Northland is a Disabled Persons Assembly that includes all disability groups. ... Your impairment could be physical or sensory, you may have a learning disability or experience of mental illness or your disability could be neurological, health or age-related.
I think DPA Northland needs to continue on its current path, as current DPA chairperson my personal working relationship with WDC and Northland DHB is very good I will start 2019 on a gentle roll and ease WDC into a better understanding of the needs of this cities disabled community.
I have read some good things about Waikato DPA and their success in having such an accessible community. I hope you are reading this Gerri I learned from Gerri ( DPA National ) to present things in an emotional way to get the best interaction going. Its well under way WDC and Northland DHB are embracing change already they are learning empathy, this teaches them how to cater for all and think about what they are doing.

Honesty stalls in rural NZ may be the "Kiwi way", but thieves are making it difficult to survive.
One grower-family was targeted with a spate of $100 per day thefts.
But out-of-pocket growers have pledged to continue; keeping the "Kiwi tradition" alive, in spite of thieves.

This year, thanks to the Monarch Butterfly NZ Trust, monarch butterflies have their very own matchmaking agency.
“There are always pockets around the country where there are healthy swan plants which female monarchs haven’t found,” said Jacqui Knight from the MBNZT. “And there are other people who find their swan plants are stripped by the hungry caterpillars. Now, thanks to web-based technology, there’s a site where people can list their details and hopefully be introduced to someone who can come to their aid.”
The site has only just been created but already there are people from all corners of the country networking to lift monarch numbers before the end of the summer.
“As well as other predators, over recent years we’ve seen a huge increase in the numbers of paper wasps. Many people now raise their caterpillars under cover to protect them,” said Jacqui. So it can be disappointing if you run out of food… or you have plenty of food and no monarchs laying.”
You can use either one of these sites to get help:

Once you know which type of wasp to target, the next step is to use the correct control method.
- For paper wasps, there are commercially available sprays at hardware stores around the country. The important things to note are not to get too close (these sprays can go up to four metres), and to do it at dusk once the wasps have returned to their nests. If you are unsure where the nests are, you can usually follow the wasp to it, as they don't travel too far away.
- Vespex is a protein-based bait which is suitable for use on the vespula wasp species. This is usually done at landscape scale as a small tub of bait can cover a large area. You don't need to find the nests as the wasps carry the bait home with them. Vespex is not at all attractive to bees. If there is a problem in your area you can learn all about the use of vespex here. You will need to be an approved user - a short 10-minute video course is all that is required. Vespex is not suitable for paper wasps as they prefer live bait. You can also contribute to our fight against wasps here: givealittle.co.nz...
