Does anyone know of anybody that offers sewing machine lessons for beginners? Our 10 year old Granddaughter has a brand new machine and is itching to go! She lives in Onerahi, but someone local would be great too. Thank You.

Hi. These hens are in lay, they free range but they have no respect for our yard fence. One or two keep finding a way to get in and pooh by the house- so that's it! Out they go @ $5 each.

Many people setting up paddling pools for their children this summer will be breaking the law - are you one of them?
Any pool, fixed or portable, deeper than 400mm is now subject to safety provisions under the Building Act, meaning there a quite a few rules you probably aren't even aware of.
For example, do you have a 1.2-metre fixed childproof fence with a self-closing gate opening outwards?
What are your thoughts on paddling pool safety? If faced with an inspection, would your pool set-up pass? Do you think all these rules are essential? What are your tips for setting up a paddling pool safely?

This is a long-shot, but you never know...….I was helping a rather distraught young Mum to find her white, oblong purse, in the Countdown/KMart car park, around 12.30/1/30pm. She said it had a lot of money in it. Hopefully, someone has found it and handed it into Countdown or the Police … View moreThis is a long-shot, but you never know...….I was helping a rather distraught young Mum to find her white, oblong purse, in the Countdown/KMart car park, around 12.30/1/30pm. This morning about 9am a couple and their large black labrador X were walking between Kamo Rd and Kensington Ave. The couple engrossed in conversation, the dog unrestrained and running freely. Unnoticed by the couple, the dog stopped, had a big poo in the bark, scratched the bark everywhere and went on it's way. Unfortunately my camera was not nearby so I can't include a pic. Come on Dog owners, get your act together and show some responsibility. There are many people walking their dogs along these paths and being responsible but always a few who are not. Shame on them.

I also have some giant bamboo as well for those who have larger projects to satisfy. It all needs to be cut so it is still green but in this weather it dries out quickly. I do not want to cut and stack it on site as it makes an awful mess. But it sure beats buying it at the garden centre. It comes in all lengths and sizes. Just choose what you would like and take it. But bring your loppers with you!

DPA Northland is a political movement. We want to help support all people in our community that need support! I have disabilities, many people do, certainly, our members do, but DPA also needs the support of nondisabled people. As above our function is not as a social club our function is to ask for change and greater integration into the community for disabled people
We listen to issues face by the disabled and talk to the right people in order for these issues to be resolved for the good of the whole community. We do not supply professional support and services for individuals or groups. We need to be working with councils DHBs Government, we need to be lobbyists, we need to be seen by media we need to find a way to get councils DHBs Government to do more about employment for the disabled.
Give us employment and many other issues would be solved at the same time. DPA Northland is a Disabled Persons Assembly that includes all disability groups. ... Your impairment could be physical or sensory, you may have a learning disability or experience of mental illness or your disability could be neurological, health or age-related.
I think DPA Northland needs to continue on its current path, as current DPA chairperson my personal working relationship with WDC and Northland DHB is very good I will start 2019 on a gentle roll and ease WDC into a better understanding of the needs of this cities disabled community.
I have read some good things about Waikato DPA and their success in having such an accessible community. I hope you are reading this Gerri I learned from Gerri ( DPA National ) to present things in an emotional way to get the best interaction going. Its well under way WDC and Northland DHB are embracing change already they are learning empathy, this teaches them how to cater for all and think about what they are doing.
