Waikanae Beach Four Square are offering delivery of groceries for elderly and those with special health conditions/circumstances in Waikanae (aren't they awesome?!)
The Pantry – located in Omahi Street, Waikanae is open and operating under Alert Level 4 requirements and can provide full pre-cooked meals.
Citizens Advice Bureau can't operate face to face at level 4 but our 0800 367 222 should be up and running shortly. If you ring 04 298 4944 you might even get me. Hopefully I'll be able to help!

Just learnt that Grant's Bush Reserve is to have a children's playground, picnic tables, seats, litter bins, dog litter bag dispenser and neat little signs all early in 2022.
Yay.
Now that we are in lockdown the SPCA is not rehousing cats and dogs.

Peepo - "A couple weeks ago we adopted Benjamin Button, now called Peepo. He has been a delight and a half, to say the least, and has grown so big in such a small amount of time! Slowly, he has adjusted to his new home and is now a superb older brother to his little sister, Namnam. The staff at the SPCA were super helpful throughout the entire adoption process, even giving us tips on how to introduce our new kittens. Suffice to say they are now best buddies."

I would have thought rubbish removal was an essential service. It certainly has a public health component. Apparently its only unsanitary if you are paying for it. Yet another inequitable service from council.
They have advised "Only commercial collectors may enter the transfer stations. People who don’t pay for kerbside collection should stockpile their rubbish bags and clean recycling".
The message is loud and clear. Unless you are paying for kerbside collection, you are on your own. So much for building community resilience in the face of pandemics and natural disasters. What a load of rubbish their long term plan is. They are incapable of operationalising any of it.
If you have to stockpile rubbish, be aware that it could attract rats and mice, particularly at this time of year when other sources of food are limited. These rodents carry a number of unpleasant diseases such as Salmonella and any droppings should be disposed of carefully, with disinfectant, rubber gloves and a face mask.

They are generally not heirloom plants and are said to only last about 8 years on average. Love to be proven wrong on this point though.

I LOVE food but this love and nose can sometimes get me into trouble. As I want to keep all the cuddles and tummy rubs for myself I am looking for a home as an only dog. Don't be fooled by my size, I can be cheeky and have jumped fences before, so am needing a home that has high fencing. I could live with older kids that are confident around big boisterous ladies like myself. I'm a real sweet heart waiting for a family to pick me.
