I had some some spare time the other day and was wandering along the Main Road in Waikanae when I came accross the converted containers located just before the GAS Petrol Station. This looked like a great Council initiative however I have not seen any promotions so did not know they even existed.
Two of the three shops were tenanted, one by the charity "The Shed Project" with their wooden products including Tui Feeders, Giant Poppies, Storage Boxes etc. and the other by 2 friends who call themselves J&K Pop-up. Their range of products include Shabby Chiq Homewares, Retro/Romantic Upcycled Furniture, Natural Fibre Woman's Clothing, Fabric Wall Hangings and much more.
There is also a Food Truck at the location which I believe is open on a Friday and Saturday evening.
I spoke with the tenants and was told that sometimes they are lucky if they see a customer some days which is a shame. I suggest we all take a wander down to the Pop -Up shops and support these tenants and the initiative that the council have created.
The two current tenants advised that they are open between Tuesday and Saturday 10am-3pm and will be there until the end of the month when hopefully new tenants will take over.

To save more, match your power plan to your lifestyle. If you're home during the day, a 'time of use' plan could cut costs by using power during off-peak hours. Tailoring your plan to your routine helps keep more money in your pocket.
Head to the Electricity Authority’s website, where they offer free tools to help you compare and switch plans with ease. With so many New Zealanders already saving up to $400 a year, there’s no reason to wait. Smart power choices start here, and the benefits can last all year long.
Take charge of your electricity costs and see how much you could save today. You might just wonder why you didn’t switch sooner.
