As well, on Saturday morning Rosalie, the Thames Storyteller, will tell a series of short stories covering Thames history from 1867 to 1886. Merv Tilsley will give free guided tours of the museum and there will be museum-discovery activities for children. The museum is open 10am-3pm. The events around these sites in Cochrane St, Queen St, Bella St and Brown St, and at Kōpū , include gold panning; 19th century gold mining machinery in action at the Goldmine Experience; talks and Q&A chats with experts; Russell Skeet’s guided Grahamstown walk and a leisurely stroll with storytelling on Historic Kōpū Bridge; small gauge train rides, music, pioneer days storyathon at Thames museum with Rosalie the Thames Storyteller and more. TCDC tried to strike out the group’s application to quash the council's decision in April 2019 not to sign the Local Government New Zealand climate change declaration. And TCDC sought $25,000 as security for costs from the local group before the case could proceed. Both of TCDC’s applications were dismissed by the High Court which ruled the group’s case was taken in the public interest. The case will now proceed to a full hearing.
