Crossing the Waihou at Thames Museum

Carolyn from Thames

Thames Museum’s display "Crossing the Waihou" is still on and is proving popular. The display features Ted Egan's fully working model of the Historic Kōpū Bridge swing span, along with photos, newspaper excerpts and a representation of the Hauraki Plains farmland which emphasises the role the bridge played in connecting Thames to the Plains and beyond. Another feature is the menu from the banquet that celebrated the bridge's opening on 11th May 1928. There is one surprising dish that we might not be so keen on today. I would love to hear from anyone who has ever eaten it.
Thames Museum, Corner Pollen and Cochrane Streets is open Friday to Wednesday, 10am to 3pm. Admission adult $5, child $2, family of 2 adults and school age children $10.

Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.

This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.

Do you think this ban is reasonable?
