In a press release issued on Monday, Mayor K Gurunathan said while the alert level is being reduced from 11.59pm on April 27, significant restrictions will remain in place.
“...the district’s public libraries, pools, playgrounds and community venues will remain closed."
A decision had yet to be made on the rubbish dumps but they would likely open.
“There’s a lot of detail to be worked through and the operators of these facilities need to be satisfied that they can operate safely and effectively under the government’s Covid-19 guidelines.
“We’ll be updating the Covid-19 page on our Council’s website once we have more clarity on the situation and will do our best to communicate any changes."
The Council’s virtual emergency operations centre and welfare support helpline will continue to operate remotely during Alert Level 3 and it's unknown as yet when they'll close.
If you need urgent support to access essential supplies call the Council welfare support helpline on 0800 486 486. The helpline is staffed between 7am and 7pm, seven days a week

I started a group called self-isolation activities New Zealand on Facebook, in effort to help out people during these difficult times. There are now over 600 members keeping themselves and their families busy.
The page is evolving all the time with not only activities you can do, but also music to listen to, posts you can laugh at, and quizzes you can complete, but best of all it is a page for ages.
You are also welcome to post any ideas you have and to keep our communities smiling and busy!!
The page has many different ideas posted over the course of a day, so please take time to navigate through the posts, or click on the topics at the top of the page to search for ideas of interest.
I did try and post on Neighbourly after I last posted about this group, however, due to many ideas being on video, I was unable to do so.
All the best, take care and stay well, thank Kirsty

Thanks for all you support at the scene and for the many messages you left in our letter box and phone calls. I ended up in Lower Hutt ICU for a 2night stay where a brilliant Surgeon and his team put me back together after shattering my jaw. As you can see the helmet I was wearing split in half as did my bike.I was very very lucky and am very grateful to all of the health service people who took such great care of me. So if you have a family member who is out biking to get some exercise during the lockdown, make sure they wear their helmet as well. Regards Ross Vessey

Using self-paced learning, Toastmasters undertake an educational programme that promotes these competencies, and also teaches effective listening, thinking on your feet, leadership skills, and giving and receiving constructive feedback.
Amid lockdown, many of New Zealand’s Toastmasters clubs have transitioned to holding their regular meetings online to allow the continuation of personal and professional development while providing social interaction.
