Naenae Clubhouse needs bikes, now, in time for the Hutt Winter Festival show from 14 – 23 of July. The size of bike they need would be suitable for 10 – 18 year olds.

The bikes will be fixed up by young people mentored by local volunteer and mentor Rob Stead for the community to use during the festival to tour historical sites around Naenae and learn about the suburbs’ rich and interesting history.

Fixing bikes provides a range of skills to Clubhouse members. They can learn about design, writing, fixing and maintaining bicycles and recently a 6m long container arrived at the Clubhouse for use as a cycle garage and safe store room.

Stead, a retired ex-mechanic will pass on his knowledge and skills to the young people and asks that any donated bikes have pedals, brakes and chains.

To donate a bike contact Lily Chalmers on lily.chalmers@huttcity.govt.nz
