WATER LEAKING MISINFORMATION

The story is out, hot off the press that Upper Hutt water leaks are taking only a max of 21days to fix.
Good job Wellington Water and UH City Council. Yeah, right.

Less than a few months ago a leak in busy Ward Street took almost 4 months to fix during that time thousands had to step over or wade through the 24/7 water wastage. Around the same time other people in UH reported the 2-3 months delays in public water leaks being attended to and one person spoke of six months gap between first report and repairs.

At the very least there could be some honesty.
One does hope that there are plans to put into action for a few days gap only between leak spotting and leak fixing.

JACKSON ST FOR JACK OF ALL FOOD

Last time I wrote about Petone (Pito-oni) was to say GET OUT for those on the plains for the overlapping sea is on its way, quicker than was envisaged only a few years ago. Just refer to relevant insurance premiums if you don't believe me.

But while we are still here, Petone's Jackson Street is a little Melbourne for its food and drinking outlets.

Last time I counted there were 38 places along a kilometre stretch of Jackson Street that provided food and refreshments - mostly by way of restaurants - but someone else has done a recent count and got up to near 70.
That latest figure represents a wide variety of choice. And parking though limited and mostly in ultra narrow streets , is still free and that's the way most Petone-ites want it.

My birthday is coming up so guess I will be somewhere in Petone if not Brewtown, on the night.

Does anyone have any ideas about how a concerned NZ Citizen can register a protest against the probable closure of programmes - Sunday, Fair Go, 1 News, NewsHub? Or any other current issues that are likely to negatively affect future life in New Zealand.
I have tried ringing Chris Bishop's community office 04 566 8580 - I got to leave a message.
Chris Bishop's email is chris.bishop@parliment.govt.nz so I'm about to send him an email regarding my concerns; 1 the probable closure of the above programmes and 2 as per the early radio news this morning that Waka Kotahi no longer need to consider climate change in any decision making in future.

Please follow our top tips to reduce the risk of mail theft:
✉️ Clear your letterbox in a timely manner
✉️ Put a hold on your mail delivery if you’re going away
✉️ Provide clear delivery instructions for couriers to leave a package safely hidden or secured within your property
✉️ Install security cameras and/or security camera messaging near your letterbox or front of property
✉️ Where practical, consider click and collect over delivery
✉️ Send parcels to a work address or ensuring you're home when they arrive
✉️ Contact Police (111 for immediate issues or 105 if it is after the fact) if you see people loitering around vehicles or looking into car windows
✉️ Engage in neighbourhood groups so more people can keep an eye out for suspicious activity

These tips are being shared after a 44-year-old woman will appear in Pukekohe District Court on 28 March charged with theft.
An alleged mail thief in the Pukekohe area has hand-delivered herself into Police, following assistance from the community.
Counties Manukau South Senior Sergeant MJ Riddle says Police were aware of locals discussing a mail theft on social media. A report was made to Police at the time in January and had included enough detail including CCTV footage and a vehicle of interest. Following Police enquiries, the woman has brought herself into the Pukekohe Police Station a few days later

“This is a great result for the community and a timely reminder to the public to continue reporting any thefts from letterboxes.”
Senior Sergeant Riddle says
“Our community should be able to receive parcels and mail without concern of interference but unfortunately there are people in our communities who take advantage of opportunities to commit thefts from mail boxes and front porches."

“We encourage anyone who has been the victim of dishonesty offending to report it as soon as possible,” she says."
