Hamilton City Council Cemetary Seven Sharp

Allan from Melville

Did any one see the story they did about a person complaining about the state of the cemetery and how he takes a lawnmower out and mows around his sons grave and that he done some others and got told off by ground staff and said he needed to get the deads relatives approval to do? what a cop out.

Also the interview of the council staff member did not catch her name think it may have been Michelle Rivers saying they got more compliments than complaints about the state of the cemetery and that they were intentionally letting the plaques get overgrown. Not a single person i have spoken to has a compliment about the state of the cemetery.
If like me you are one of the complainants email sevensharp@tvnz.co.nz and let them know.
Maybe this publicity is something that might get them to tidy up the plaques in the lawn cemetery.
Great on the person taking it to the media I made contact with fairgo but I only just heard back after about 6 months seeking more info guess it might be another 6 months before they come back again lol

A new email scam impersonating the NZTA is being sent around telling vehicle owners their licences are due.

The email directs the recipient to renew the funds through clicking a 'Renew Now' button at the bottom corner of the email. It then takes the individual to fake website that gets them to fill in personal details.

CERT NZ, the government authority responsible for cyber security said in a tweet, that anyone who receives this email should report it directly to Waka Kotahi (NZTA).

How to spot a phishing scam:
- NZTA will only send an email through if an individual has contacted them first.
- Email addresses will always end in @nzta.govt.nz, @enews.nzta.govt.nz or @reply.nzta.govt.nz.
- The email may be missing specific details that the NZTA will have on file: such as your plate number, the date your vehicle license is due and vehicle make and model.
- Hover over buttons and links to see if the pop-up will take you to a genuine government (.govt.nz) website

Neighbourly will update this message as further information comes to hand.

Increasing rents

Dianne from Hamilton East

With rents skyrocketing all over NZ, surely there has come a time for people, as a whole to say ENOUGH.
There is no need for the greed that is being seen in the obscene amounts being asked for by owners of these homes; $500-600 for a 3 bedroom average home here in Hamilton.

There is no need for the greed that is being seen in the obscene amounts being asked for by owners of these homes; $500-600 for a 3 bedroom average home here in Hamilton.
There is no way that anybody has a need to charge this amount, a product of supply and demand I hear people say. What? So we are short of available housing for our people, so that gives Landlords/ladies a right to increase their rent.
THATS GREED FOLKS, PURE AND UTTER GREED
As Mark Twain famously said "It is curious — curious that physical courage should be so common in the world, and moral courage so rare."
Take a stand today, demand from those able to have houses to rent out; that they charge a fair rent, rather than an inflated rent, a rent that they would be able to pay if they had two kids, one partner working in a modest job.....walk in that persons moccasins and do what's morally courageous.

7 ‘Unexpected’ Things You Can Clean with Laundry Detergent

Robert Anderson from Curtain Clean Hamilton

But did you know that it can do much more than just clean your clothes? The stuff can be multifunctional in your household. For example, you can use both the liquid and powder version for your drain, oven or car. We have listed seven things that you can clean with laundry detergent.

1. Unclogging the drain

Is your drain clogged up? Don’t call a plumber just yet; try this trick first. Pour about 60 millilitres of laundry detergent into the sink and then (slowly) pour a litre of boiling water down the drain. The hot water and the liquid detergent work together to flush out the blockage. That saves you another visit from the plumber.

2. Making all-purpose cleaner

It is also perfectly fine to use laundry detergent to make all-purpose cleaner. To do this, mix 80 millilitres of bleach, 4.5 litres of water and a teaspoon of laundry detergent together. It works surprisingly well on walls, in the bathroom and on almost any other surface in the house.

3. Removing stains

When you think about it, it makes sense that the same stain-fighting properties that help clean your clothes, also work on upholstery and carpet. Apply powder detergent to a stain and rub it gently with a wet cloth to work the detergent into the stain. Wait five minutes, then wipe off the excess powder and repeat until the stain is gone.

4. Washing the car

Laundry detergent is ideal for cleaning the outside of the car. It removes dirt with ease. Makes sure to dilute the detergent fist. Just one tablespoon of laundry detergent per bucket of water should be enough. A solution that is too concentrated could damage the paintwork of your car, which is something we want to avoid! Of course, you can also use laundry detergent for the interior of the car, as described above.
