NEIGHBOURHOOD SUPPORT………PHONE 07 9020097
GREETINGS GOOD PEOPLE

Obviously Christmas is approaching fast and people are looking for cheap Christmas presents already.

Kaipaki

We headed out to Kaipaki hall when told it had been broken into. Window had been forced.

Burglary occurred Friday - Saturday of Labour weekend.

60" Panasonic flat screen T.V., large BBQ, small V Fridge, tent, Archery gear, 5 x green brand new pedal drift go-carts (see attached photo) stolen.

Kitchen in the hall had been ransacked. Folk held a tea dance in the hall and discovered the burglary and let the appropriate people know the next day.

Wonder if the offenders just used a trailer to take the gear away or another stolen horse float used again?

Te Kowhai

Exelby Rd. Between 5.30 and 7.30pm on Sunday 15 October.Folk are at home having dinner and some kind person enters their garage and steals two newish teenagers' bicycles. Both are METRIDER brand and classed as being used either on - road or off-road. One being blue and white and the other is red.

Forkert Rd.

Here we go again folks.

9.45am today a white Ute seen to drive up driveway and then drive out again as soon as it is discovered someone is home at the address. No further description of the vehicle.

We had a similar incident in Kaipaki Rd not too long ago. A chap drives up to a house at the end of a very long driveway and asks about pigs.
Obviously there were no pigs on this property but he mentioned the name Wally. Locals say that there was a Wally on Kaipaki Rd who had pigs so this chap was given the benefit of the doubt, but a few days later a Ute drives into the driveway then leaves again when it is noticed folk are at home. At the time there was a trailer at the end of the drive and with trailers still being a hot item to be stolen it is wondered if that was the purpose of the visits?

Have not had any reports lately of similar activity out Wharepapa Sth and Wharepuhunga Rd, areas. Has the activity stopped out there?

Te Kawa Rd

Yep. It is the old Country Store by the railway line again folk.

The store is on the market.

The front door of the store has been jimmied open again. The metal bars used to keep the door closed stolen. All the lightbulbs in the place taken. The door to a shed out the back kicked in and garden tools, wheelie bins and paint stolen.

We have spoken to the neighbours about this activity more than once and yet it still occurs. Hard to understand why nobody sees or hears anything?

Police

Folk, if you discover a burglary it is a good idea to give the police a fair go. It is not a good idea to carry on with activity and contaminate the scene. Offender's footprints and fingerprints are good evidence but easily wiped off or confused with your prints if you linger too long in any given area. Report the matter to the police straight away and seek their advice first.

Thank you people.

Halloween is creeping up! Our recent Halloween Survey has revealed what New Zealanders REALLY think of Halloween. Did you know that only 1 in 10 households give out healthy snacks to trick or treaters, or that our favourite thing to dress up as is a ‘witch’?

We found out that some participants have some pretty wacky costume ideas like; ‘Donald Trump', ‘an inflatable flamingo’ a ‘popcorn vendor’ and ‘grumpy grannies’. Comment below with what you'll be dressing up as this year!
