After a long battle, the family are sad to announce the passing of David Hugh (Barrie) McHaffie, of Gore (Formerly of Popotunoa, Clinton), on February 14, 2023. Dearly loved husband to the late Helen, father and father-in-law to Scott and Alison, Jeff and Tracey, Terry and Heidi, Paul and Nicole, and a proud grandad to his 11 grandchildren. Special thanks to all those involved with his care throughout the past 16 years.

Of Palmerston North, formerly Ashhurst. On Wednesday 8th February 2023, peacefully at Brightwater Home Palmerston North. In his 81st year. Dearly loved husband of Mary, and loved father and father-in-law of Delphin and Francine (Perth), Michael and Victoria (Auckland), Paul and Brida (Palmerston North). Loved Grandad of Georgia, Emma, Patrick, Jonty, James and Thomas. At Graeme’s wishes a private funeral has taken place.

GERRELL, Kathleen Maureen (nee Setter)

Formerly of Upper Hutt. Passed away peacefully, on Saturday 11 February 2023, in her 95th year. Dearly loved wife of the late Kenneth William Gerrell. Much loved mother and mother-in-law of Jo-Ann Odlum and Richard Thomas (Paekkriki), Catherine Castle (Wellington), Maree and Stan Pycroft (Christchurch), and Jane Gerrell and Fiona McMillan (Perth, Australia). A dearly loved Nana of Emma Castle, Andrew Castle, Alexandra and Patrick Greaney, Vanessa and Lauren Odlum and Great-Nana of Cooper and Hunter and Penelope and Levi. Beloved husband of Judi, loving father of Verity and Christopher, caring step-father to Garth, much loved Poppa to Marcus and Ashlee and future father-in-law to John. The world has lost a true gentleman, rest easy dad knowing that we will look after each other. We love you more than you know. As per Raymond’s wishes, a private cremation has been held. TALL, Jennifer Marianne (Jen)

On 12 February 2023 at Wellington Hospital, aged 78, after a brave struggle with a long illness. Dearly loved by Kate, Sinclair, Oscar and Charlie, by Andrew, Susan and Penelope, and by Hamish and Rebecca. In lieu of flowers, donations to Jen’s favourite charity the Salvation Army would be appreciated. TOOHEY, Katrina Marie Louise

On Tuesday February 14, 2023, peacefully at Nurse Maude Hospital, aged 60 years. Loved partner of Ralph, loved daughter of Avril and the late Frank, loved sister and sister-in-law of Chris, Barbara, John, Peter and Jan, Francis and Caragh, David and Linda, loving aunt to her seven nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the staff of Ward B5 at Christchurch Hospital, and the staff of Nurse Maude Hospital for their care and professionalism. Bob’s family sadly advise that their dearly loved chap in the tartan hat died on Wednesday 15th February 2023, in his 95th year, supported by family at the Hawera Hospital. Dearest husband of the late Shirley. Very much-loved dad of Lynette and Ross Maunder, Kevin and Kim, David and Karina. Loved poppy of Sarah and Shaun, Benjamin; Carrie and Paul, Alana and Adrian, Nathan and Alex; Helena, and Simone. Great-poppy of Alistair, Frankie, Mya, and Áfa-Rolland. A service to celebrate Bob’s wonderful life will be held at the Tower Bowling Club, High Street, Hawera, on Monday 20th February 2023, commencing at 11.00am. A private cremation will take place.

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our dearly loved and so sadly missed husband and father who passed away on February 10, 2023. Aged 86 years, in Perth, Australia (Late of NZ). Passed away peacefully in Whanganui on Tuesday 20th December 2022 after a long illness, aged 64 years. Proud father of Seamus. Treasured brother of the late Peter, & Adrienne, Barry & the late Marie, Kevin & Anne, Darryl & Trish, Martin & Charlotte, and Joanne & Grant Harris. Loved uncle of his numerous nieces and nephews and a friend to many. One of life’s characters who will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A memorial service to celebrate Alan’s life will be held in the Terracehaven Chapel, 697 Main Street, Palmerston North, on Saturday 25th February 2023, at 10.00am.

Passed away peacefully at The Croft, Timaru, in his 95th year, with his loving and dedicated wife Maureen by his side. Dearly loved father of Barry, Allan, Paula, Marie, Andrea, Phillip and the late Stephen. Respected father-in-law of Heather, Lynley, Brad, Alister, Jodie and the late Colin. Of Paraparaumu on 16th February 2023 aged 80. Cherished husband of the late Anne; much loved and respected father, father-in-law, and poppa, of Ross, Janice, Holly, Harry and Hugo. Fraser slipped away peacefully in his favourite red chair having bravely lived with Motor Neurone disease for the last 9 months.
