I'm a teacher at Christchurch school and we are making bee hydration stations and also planting some pots with flowers for bees to attract them to our orchard. We are going to do a little fundraising but also are wondering if anyone has some spare/old terracotta pots, bits of paint or seeds/seedlings for bee-friendly plants. 😊

Residents of Christchurch's "forgotten" red zone of Brooklands hope recent decisions about the city's quake-damaged landscape will give certainty about the future of their own community.

Plans to regenerate the 600-hectare Avon River red zone released on Friday also ruled out the compulsory purchase of homes, allowing people who did not sell to the Government to remain there.

Now, those who refused to move out of Brooklands after it was shattered in the earthquakes (like Stephen Bourke, pictured) want the same assurances – and believe the promise to those in the river corridor could set a precedent.
