Initially you can give our branches a call and our volunteers will try to help with general queries. If it is more complex we have a free immigration lawyer
- Fortnightly on Thursday evenings - 8 Goulding Ave (Hornby community centre)
- Appointment required – email clinics.chch@cab.org.nz and include Visa Status and issue
Examples of the type of queries the lawyer can help with:
- declined visa
- unlawfully in New Zealand
- expired visa
- facing deportation
- breach of visa conditions
- exploited by an employer
- received a letter from INZ
Interpreters may be available for your appointments.

On Thursday each week we hold free lawyer clinics at New Brighton and Hornby.
These clinics allow you to see a lawyer at no cost for 10 mins. So, if you need help understanding a legal document or deciding whether to pursue a legal case, then this is a great starting point.

These clinics allow you to see a lawyer at no cost for 10 mins. So, if you need help understanding a legal document or deciding whether to pursue a legal case, then this is a great starting point.

- 6.15pm - 8 Goulding Ave (Hornby community centre) – 03 349 5236
These are drop in clinics and you will be given a number when you arrive, so everyone is seen in order, and usually the lawyer can see 5-7 clients.
If you need a specialist lawyer or advisor for immigration, employment or ACC then email clinics.chch@cab.org.nz to make an appointment with the separate clinics.
