Hi Christchurch,

Almost 1300 Christchurch households no longer have a yellow bin as the city council continues to take a hard line on trashy recycling practices.

During the past 12 months 1468 bins have been confiscated from properties following numerous warnings.

Just 177 have been returned, leaving 1291 households with no ability to have their recycling collected at the kerb.

Christchurch City Council took action after an unprecedented number of recycling bins were filled with non-recycleable material following the Covid-19 lockdown last year.

Do you think confiscating recycle bins is the right approach for our city?

These Unisex Tan Accelerators are available NOW!

What are the differences?

Peptide Sun Tanning Lotion BLUE> Ultra light and refreshing, this hydrating lotion effortlessly transitions from pre-tan melanin booster, to sun tan accelerator, to after sun moisturiser. Absorbs instantly to deliver intense hydration leaving a smooth skin finish that is dry to the touch.

Peptide Sun Tanning Lotion + Bronzing GREEN> Same as the blue but with ADDITIONAL sunless tanning actives (fake tan) to give you a boost of bronzed body confidence in the lead up to sun exposure so you don't have to hit the beach white to work on your natural sun tan.

Peptide Sun Tanning Oil YELLOW> Contains 8 nutrient rich oils carefully selected for their light weight textures and superior skin conditioning properties. Luxuriously silky, the oil spreads easily and absorbs quickly to leave your skin looking glossy with feeling greasy.

Peptide Sun Tanning Oil + Bronzing CORAL> this oil is the same as the yellow but with ADDITIONAL sunless tanning actives to provide a temporary fake tan pre sun exposure, and enhance, deepen and prolong your natural suntan post sun exposure.

Did you know 1 in 4 New Zealand adults will suffer from a mental disorder or distress at some point in their lives? When they do, let’s make sure they don’t have to go it alone. To create safer, more caring communities we need to not only look after ourselves but those around us as well.

For the month of September, we want to come together to share ways to boost mental health and well-being. For example, you could host an online catch up or quiz, call a neighbour who lives alone, challenge your family and friends to try a new hobby or move your body more to improve your own well-being. If you or someone you know is going through a rough patch, don’t forget you can call or text 1737 anytime for free support from a trained counsellor.

Want to share your thoughts? Let us know how you’re looking out for your well-being and helping others with theirs this month by tagging us in your social media posts or emailing us your photos, videos, or experiences to: info@neighbourhoodsupport.co.nz

We had our vet do a post mortem that morning and he had multiple bites and massive crush injuries to his chest which punctured his lungs. We live at 800 hills road (prestons road end). Kevin was mostly an inside cat, he never ventured far and our home is down a long long drive, he was raised with big dogs and sadly was the kindest gentle cat who loved everyone and didn’t deserve this. It would have to be a big dog as Kevin was a big boy and weighed almost 8kgs. This post is just for information incase your cat goes missing in the area.

Update for our Valued and Loyal Customers -
We are excited to announce that we will be operating during Level 3 as of Wednesday the 1st of September and we are able to look after your vehicle for WOF inspections, servicing, repairs, tyres and more.

😷 Our commitment during Level 3 is to keep us all safe by using strict procedures when dealing with you and your vehicle.

😷 We will carry out all work in a safe and hygienic manner, by wearing fresh gloves, sanitizing your keys, using disposable car seat covers, spraying and wiping down any contact surfaces externally and internally with alcohol based antibacterial products - e.g. steering wheels, indicator/wiper/light stalks, buttons, handles (interior and exterior), gear lever, handbrake lever and more. This sanitization is done before any work is carried out, and also after work is completed, prior to returning the vehicle to you.

😷 If you have a WOF or service that is due or overdue we will be sending out reminders very soon so keep an eye on your email/sms message inbox 🧐

😷 Please follow posted instructions as you enter our workshop carpark

😷 Our WOF While You Wait service will continue, however our waiting room will be closed during Level 3 so you are invited to book the time that suits and go for a walk or pop home while we work on your vehicle.

😷 As our waiting room will be closed we can offer a pick up and delivery service if you are unable to drop off your vehicle. This service also includes our decontamination process on-site. Just mention you require this service when you book.

😷 We have a number of contactless payment options available including internet banking, payWave and GenoaPay. Eftpos is also available using a sanitized pad.

😷 For bookings or queries please contact us on 033135329 or autossrangiora@gmail.com.

Our emergency breakdown/recovery service is still operational through this time also.

Stay safe guys ❤️

Dear neighbours,

We're looking for lockdown gardening ideas! With New Zealanders stuck at home everyone is keen to get into their gardens, but they can't get to the shops to buy plants and seeds. So we want to hear from you some suggestions for crops you can start or sow from what you have on hand or useful gardening hacks using just what you have at home already without going to the shops.

It doesn't have to be a big idea - just something like growing spring onions from the base or sprouting avocado seeds to make a houseplant. Send your tips and ideas to mailbox@nzgardener.co.nz and we'll publish the best ideas in NZ Gardener.

Make sure you include your full name and address - only your name and the region you live in will be published but if we use your tip we will send you a free copy of the magazine.

Print apprentice Travis Jordan was named the Print Industry Apprentice of the Year, while Alex Huynh won the Workplace Trainer of the Year. For Travis, the award is an acknowledgement of the time and effort he has put into his craft.

“It’s really special and a reminder that you get out what you put in,” he says. “The award is something I’ll happily carry with me throughout my career.”

It's awesome to see not only one of our apprentices getting recognition, but also the skilled team member who trained him winning an award.

Bubbles were recently switched off at the Pioneer Pool spa in Christchurch because lifeguards were worried they may not spot someone passing out and slipping below the surface.

One staff member feared a person could slip beneath the surface, drown, and not be found until they were stood on.

On Tuesday, the Christchurch City Council told Stuff plans were in place to install a smaller air blower in the spa over the next couple of weeks, which should produce slightly reduced bubbles while keeping visibility for lifeguards.
