Not sure if my close proximity to PMs house has anything to do with it or if this the new way the police handle their ops now. I'm all for catching the crim's but nothing bets police presence on the ground. Are we facing a massive increase in local crime??

Can you help us solve a mystery? 110-year-old photographs

We're hoping to find out who the people are in these 110-year-old photographs, and (if we're lucky) who the keen amateur photographer was. Could they be members of your family?

The images were gifted to us in 2016 as glass plate negatives, after being initially purchased in the 1970s from Auckland's City Markets (now Aotea Square). We know nearly nothing about them but the photos give a few clues. They were taken in the early 1900s, mostly in Auckland but also across the North Island. There are also suggestions of the photographer’s links to the Auckland Jewish community.

We want to know more to help tell their stories. Do you recognise any of these people?

Contact us at pictorial@aucklandmuseum.com if you have any further clues. Please share with family and friends if you think they may be able to help!

Mt Albert's local guitar maestro and nationally acclaimed composer Bruce Paine will be playing at Alberton next month! In a serene Sunday afternoon concert with Turkish classical guitarist Barkin Sertkaya the two musicians will play music from their homelands.

They will also debut a new piece composed by Paine, commemorating the victims and heroes of Christchurch mosque shootings. The piece starts with tragedy and sadness, transforming gently into a sense of hope and an uplifting of the heart, infusing Middle Eastern harmonies and rhythms with Western. This will certainly be something special and a highlight of the peformance.

Tickets include entry to explore the house and refreshments following the show.

'Anatolia - Aotearoa, A Cross Cultural Classical Guitar Concert'
Sunday 15 September, 4pm. Tickets $30 or purchase tickets before 1 September at the EARLYBIRD SPECIAL of $25. To book contact concert919@brucepaine.co.nz
