Hazy skies caused by the tragic Australian bush fires are set to linger this weekend.
Northwesterly winds have blown a hazy plume of smoke across the Tasman Sea, and while it has mostly affected the South Island in recent weeks, it has moved up the country.
The "robust plume" is expected to head to the South Island late on Saturday.
The haze has been causing a yellowish-orange, hue at sunset, making for some sweet sunset photos. Share your photos in the comments!

I have attached a photo of what I am after. Colour doesn't matter.

I am posting to say how much I support the bus drivers who are resorting to industrial action whilst asking for better pay.
You have my total support on all this.
Shame on Auckland Transport for cancelling bus services in main routes even today 7.12.19. Your actions show to me and probably many others how obsessed and shallow you(Auckland Transport and of course the Auckland Council)are to make profit from the commuting public.
Most of us know NZ is a deliberately kept low income country but for AT and AC to deny drivers who allow the Auckland commuting public to get from A to B without paying a fare a Living Wage or an Acceptable Wage is a very poor reflection back upon the overpaid and underworked management of AT and of course AC.
And so whilst drivers allow us commuters to hop on and off the buses for free and without contributing to the obsessed with profit AT and AC then I am all for the drivers protesting.
Keep up the fantastic efforts you are doing bus drivers. You all deserve a medal for all this.
Shame on YOU AUCKLAND TRANSPORT AND AUCKLAND COUNCIL. May you reap the results of YOUR selfishness.

Beneficiaries in Auckland are now being delivered My Food Bag as part of a new Government trial, but not everyone is a fan.

Up to 1000 emergency food bags will be delivered as part of the trial. It comes as more people are struggling to put food on the table, with almost 100,000 New Zealanders a month having to ask WINZ for more to eat. Costing between $200-$300, the emergency food kit is intended to provide breakfast, lunch and dinner for a family for a week. "I would call it nice, it's nice food but no frills," Mr Rickard said. However, recipient Gail Watkins said there was not enough food for her and her daughter to last a week. She said her daughter was gluten-free, so was unable to eat some of the ingredients. Auckland Action Against Poverty's Ricardo Menéndez March said the Government should focus on lifting benefit levels instead of "experimenting with people on the benefit over what they can or cannot eat". National's Louise Upston said there were families that were doing it tough, the Government needed to focus on the family being able to provide their own income and reducing the cost of living. "If they're serious about helping New Zealanders in need, there's way better things they could do." The Ministry say the feedback has mostly been positive, and it is trying to learn from the trial.
