I have a question or two??? How does one read a water rates bill? I rent and i tell you what. I have had varying accounts of water bills. I can't seem to get my head around them. I think i do need to be a rocket scientist to figure it out. I have asked my property manager to please explain and don't really get much sense from there. I do know that the fixed amount is paid by the Land Lord. But the rest is mumbo jumbo to me. It tends to go up and down like a yo yo. I also know that the water meter is read and estimated. But what i have a problem with is that watercare in doing so helps themselves when its estimated to quite a bit of your funds which i think that they think that you have a money tree out back specially for them and charge you heaps and then the next thing you know you go into credit??? what the hack. Credits fine but they have my money. What do you guys think and who can figure this thing out for me. Thanks all. Julia

With torrential rain and flooding caused by an 'atmospheric river', should this event convince us all that climate change is real and we need to be taking action?

After this latest storm i need to move my family. We rent. The house is two story. We have had a leak come in the lower floor room twice now. It's a old house and there has been wooden slats/boards put on top of concrete and the water is coming under them. Its starting to move further into our room. I came home from shopping on Friday to find water in our room and leaking water from the top floor. Carpet saturated again. Our property manager doesn't take any of this seriously and i have had enough. We can't really stay here because our dad is in a wheel chair and is being cared for at home with us. So for his sake we need to move. But unfortunately it needs to be into a home that has two living quarters for the two families that like to stay together to help care for him. Please if anyone has such a place in central Auckland that would suit especially the blockhouse bay /hills borough area we will be stoked.
We are good paying tenants and just want somewhere warm and dry. We have a dog and a old grumpy cat but we love her. Catch me anytime.
Julia - Plus thanks everyone for the feed back on the water rates seems water is on all our minds at the moment take.
