Just cooking up some rhubarb, lemonbalm and apple (the first two ingredients are from my own garden), I don't know how it will turn out but probably good. 😃

Sharon from Te Atatu South

They were in my fridge and needed using up, so I chopped 'em up and am slow-cooking them/stewing them in the wok which I use for cooking everything (including marmalade! I clean it out well between uses though). I clean it out well between uses though). I've stewed/boiled each of the three ingredients by themselves in the past and it turned out well, and a friend was stewing rhubarb and apple the other week, so thought I would do the same and use up what I had in my fridge! 😃 YES, I am cooking it with the lid on, but you can't see through the steamy lid so I took it off so you could see the individual ingredients! 😃 Enjoy!!!!!!!! 😃

Lock up the assailant and throw away the damn key!!

How on earth our our valued essential workers supposed to feel safe if thugs like this are still roaming the damn streets?

I. Hate. RATS. 🐀

Markus from Green Bay

I had started my first compost last year, but had a feeling it was getting smaller lately. Today there could be no doubt: the heap was really disturbed, and a deep tunnel was visible (see picture). Today there could be no doubt: the heap was really disturbed, and a deep tunnel was visible (see picture). So I guess rats had tunnelled in from underneath. I googled how to make my compost rodent proof, but of course the wire mesh I would need is not an essential item that Mitre 10 or Bunnings could sell. But maybe anyone has some leftover galvanised wire mesh (holes no bigger than about 1.25 cm, as mice and baby rats can squeeze through anything bigger) from their own rodent proofing, approximately 1.25 m x 1.25 m square?
Thanks
Markus

Vaccination rates and ethnicity.

I struggle to see why Maori and some other groups are achieving low vaccination rates. Every assistance and advertising has been used to say what is needed and how to do it. Every assistance and advertising has been used to say what is needed and how to do it. I have great respect for Maori and find no pleasure in putting them down. All races have their nuisances that don't fit. I do note however that not many Maori were missing on Bastion Pt a few years ago. An emulation of such attendance for vaccination would be a great example to us all.

The aiming point for vaccinations should not be debatable.

David from Glen Eden

The aiming point for vaccinations should not be debatable. It is 100%, end of story. 100% is the logical aiming point even if unrealistic. Any lower advertised aiming point offers an excuse for anti vaxers to be one of them. Apart from that, better to try and fail than to not try. Anti vaxers … View moreThe aiming point for vaccinations should not be debatable. It is 100%, end of story. 100% is the logical aiming point even if unrealistic. Any lower advertised aiming point offers an excuse for anti vaxers to be one of them. Apart from that, better to try and fail than to not try. Anti vaxers deserve some sort of restriction. Anti vaxers are a liability, a danger to the community, and there is no logic or history which supports their view. Vaccinations have saved many millions of lives. The inquisitions I see ministers inflicted with are sourced on either hind sight criticism or requests for future plans. No one has the crystal ball to forecast anything about future covid-19 & co except that vaccination is currently our only hope for a near normal life. The media should not be insisting on predictions of the future, it's impossible. New Zealand has managed this pandemic remarkably well so far, it is what it is, and even if we were late to get vaccination started it is not too late to be part of the catch up now under way. GET VACCINATED and stop making excuses.
