Our little Meadowbank Mindfulness group has ended the year. The group has been running for more than 4 years, and we always enjoy getting together. It is a small group, very welcoming to new members.

If you are interested, you might want to join next year for monthly sessions of ease and peace. The session includes gentle movement and relaxing simple meditation – and often a cup of tea after☺️

Third Monday of the month – Not December but restarting January 19th. Meadowbank Community Centre - 1.30 - 2.45pm.

First session free, then Koha welcome.

Stardome's Quiet Hour offers a low-sensory environment tailored to accommodate individuals with autism or sensory and neurodiversity needs.

During these sessions, we modify both our planetarium and broader gallery spaces to provide a gentler sensory experience, including:

- A guided planetarium session exploring the night sky, led by a presenter
- Reduced volume levels
- Soft ambient lighting, with planetarium doors remaining open throughout the show
- A breakout space

Spaces are also strictly limited to 30 visitors per session. Carers go free.

There have been recent detections of yellow-legged hornets (Vespa velutina) in Auckland.

If you think you have found a hornet or its nest in your area, take a clear photo and report:
• online at  report.mpi.govt.nz
• by calling our exotic pest and disease hotline on  0800 80 99 66

The yellow-legged hornet has distinctive dark legs with bright yellow tips. Hornets are also much larger than honeybees and common wasp species seen in New Zealand.

The yellow-legged hornet is a biosecurity concern due to its potential impact on honeybee and wild bee populations.
