Anyone headed towards Whangārei from Whangārei Heads will be able to pull over easily on asphalted surface and find an improved one-way area with a marked bus stop and parking, more space for the central Pohutukawa, and access to Tamaterau Domain.

Expect some traffic management in the coming months to allow for the development. Once complete, the speed limit here will return to being 50 km/h.

This $304,0000 project is supported by the Tourism Infrastructure Fund. The design was completed by Hawthorn Geddes engineers & architects ltd and the construction will be completed by Robinson Asphalts.

This year's award-winning Wasp Wipeout campaign is now underway and once again we're appealing to anyone who wishes to get involved with the campaign by volunteering their time to help lay bait in wasp-ravaged areas.

If spare time is a rarity - not to worry! This year’s Givealittle page is now live and we’re aiming to fundraise $25,000 for the Tasman Environment Trust. All money raised will go towards the purchase of bait and bait stations to continue and expand wasp control operations.

Find out more about this destructive pest by reading through our new interactive feature on Stuff which explores the tools we have in the fight to rid wasps from New Zealand for good.

Between Friday 18 February 2022 to Friday 25 February 2022

We are doing some important maintenance work at the Parua Bay reservoir. During the work, we will be supplying water to the Parua Bay area from the Manganese Point reservoir instead.

All customers will still have water supply at all times, but some may notice a reduction in pressure during high demand periods.

The affected area will be the Parua Bay village, including Richie road and along Whangarei Heads road, from Taraunui Road to 1945 Whangarei Heads road in McLeods Bay.

We need to do occasional maintenance like this to make sure our water infrastructure stays in good shape. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
