This is a 24 page glossy magazine promoting our lovely region to 183,000 readers south of the Brynderwyns. The strategy is to encourage those readers to come north for a short break rather than getting onto an aeroplane and spend their money elsewhere. If you would like to promote your business, PM me and I'll get back to you.

Wanted to Buy - water tank or old milk vat

Joe & Gaylene from Hikurangi Coastal

Don't have a lot of money to splash around but am seriously considering installing a reasonably small water tank to catch rainwater. Needs to be reasonably close by and reasonable price.

Denise Piper Reporter from Whangārei Leader

Northland principal rural fire officer Myles Taylor says lighting fires in extreme conditions like this is stupid and ludicrous, and could cause a fire with catastrophic consequences. He encourages anyone who sees smoke to ring 111. Why do you think people are still lighting fires?

For weeks now you've been catching waste-water you can re-use on the garden, now Council is able to do the same thing on a grand scale. If you've got a bucket in the shower and you're chucking your dish-water on the vege patch - we're with you!

Parks and Recreation manager Sue Hodge says “It seemed logical to use some of the water which goes through multiple treatment processes at the treatment plant and goes into the wetlands every day. Using a bit of it to water our fields, trees and gardens will make no difference to the ecology of the wetlands, but will make a big difference to the District’s fields, trees and gardens."

“We make a big investment in fields every year. They are very important to the community, especially with the winter sports season coming up and we want to look after them as well as we can."

“If I hear music, I just want to dance – body seems to just move!” says dancer Audrey, 84. Poet Brian, 86, says “Poetry helps me to question and understand the meaning of life”, followed by a witty “– haven’t worked out what it means yet”.

As their residents blaze their own trails, Ryman matches that pioneering spirit. “Ryman villages offer living choices to suit everyone so that you can live the way you want.

Gone are the days of getting one qualification out of school to see you through your working life. Now, upskilling, online courses and on-the-job training are all part of making your way up the career ladder.

We want to talk to people who have completed micro-credentials, bitesize qualifications for specific skills.

Perhaps you've pieced together a full qualification by doing online courses, or maybe you've taken a workshop rather than investing in a six-month course. We'd love to hear from you - email josephine.franks@stuff.co.nz
