Why my child?

Often parents are relieved when such a diagnosis is made, because it gives them a reason to explain the problems or behaviour they did not understand. But are you sure that your child has a disorder? Or do they simply have a different, yet healthy, personality type than other children? And if so, do you really want them growing up feeling flawed?
Maybe it is time to spend a bit of time learning about the differences.

We were taking orders for EMERGENCY WATER TANKS at our Karori Karnival on Sunday and we can still take orders until the end of this week.

If you would like to order a tank, or need additional information, please send us a Personal Message. Payment must be made via on-line banking before any order is put through to the supplier.

The following is the text of the flyer that was handed out on the day and provides the necessary information about the tanks:

Wellington’s geography makes our water supply network very vulnerable, so it will take some time to get water back into people’s homes after a large earthquake. Our communities need to store their own water to get through such events.

Councils across the Wellington Region and The Tank Guy have been selling household emergency rainwater tanks. For $120 Karori Lions are offering a 200 litre water tank with all the fittings needed to connect it to your downpipe. These tanks provide enough emergency water for a family of four for up to sixteen days, longer if it rains. A small proportion of the price ($20) will go to the Karori Lions Centennial Legacy Project which will be a Plant Conservation Laboratory at Otari-Wilton's Bush.

Tanks ordered today, at the Karori Lions Karnival, will be available to be picked up on a date and at a place to be advised to those who place such orders. We hope this will be in about a couple of weeks' time.

Tank details:

1200 mm high and 650 mm wide
Simple to install
Easy to transport - weighs 7.5 kg when empty and can fit into the backseat of most cars
Food grade, UV resistant plastic
Includes all fittings -brass tap, bung, hose connection & Superfill Diverter Kit, stainless steel hooks & earthquake strapping
Has a 10-year warranty for the tank and 1-year warranty for the diverter kit. .
NOTE that the $120 price does NOT include installation

Any problems with the tanks should be referred to The Tank Guy, phone 0508 326 8888 or email emergencyrainwatertank@mouldingsunlimited.co.nz

Riding a motorcycle or scooter inevitably carries more risk than driving a four-wheeled vehicle. And it turns out quite a lot of us have someone close to us who rides (in fact, 48% of Neighbourly members!)

If you worry about their safety, there is something you can do: encourage them to take Ride Forever coaching, provided (and heavily subsidised) by ACC. It's delivered by experts and it works, as Simon Gotlieb's story shows. Neighbourly members can book a FREE Ride Forever course before 31 March using promo code NEIGH18 over here.

Swan Plant Rescue
Many of you are crying out for swan plants and a North Island grower has generously offered a solution.
Bruce Sanson from The Plant Place in Hamilton has offered to make a trip next week as far south as Christchurch with a load of 1.2 to 1.5 metre swan plants, priced at $5 each. To make it worth his while, he will need to sell at least 600 of them. He could drop them off at points anywhere between Hamilton and Christchurch, of course.
Remember that there are potentially two more generations of monarch caterpillars to come this season – and each generation the number of monarchs increases hugely. If we provide plenty of food for them now, we have more monarchs overwintering…
Originally this offer was for financial members of the MBNZT but it is so generous, and this is what we are set up to do, that we are opening it to anyone…
But please consider taking out a subscription to our magazine as a way of paying it forward. The more members we have, the more we can help NZ butterflies.
If you and your friends and colleagues are interested, please:
· contact your friends and others and see how many plants they would like,
· email brucesanson@hotmail.com with an indication of how many plants you would buy IF this trip goes ahead. He will need to know your location, quantity you can distribute, and phone numbers would be helpful too. You will be paying him cash on delivery.
Remember, this trip won’t happen if people want one or two – he needs to get a total order of 600 or so to make the trip happen – and you need to act quickly.
For more information email brucesanson@gmail.com, SWAN PLANTS in the subject would be helpful too.
