Pāua quota cut in half

South Island pāua divers will have their daily limit cut down by half from next month.

The current legal limit is 10 pāua per person or 20 pāua or 2.5 kilograms of minced meat during a multi-day fishing trip. The limits apply to both black and yellow foot pāua. From December 12, the limit will be halved to five per day or a maximum of 10 pāua or 1.25kg per person on a multiple-day fishing trip.

Fisheries Management's director, Stuart Anderson, said the new quota was designed to help the stock's depleted numbers recover after the 7.8-magnitude earthquake in 2016.

If you’re heading to the free Fly My Pretties concert this Saturday, part of the Tuia 250 commemorations, why not catch the bus?

Depart from Blenheim Railway Station at 6.00 pm on Saturday 23 November and arrive at Picton Foreshore in time to enjoy the Kete Kai Street Market and incredible 3D light installation (thanks to Interislander) before the concert begins.

At 11.00 pm the bus will collect you from the Picton i-SITE and deliver you back to Blenheim Railway Station.

Tickets are $10 return and can be purchased from Blenheim i-SITE or online.
