Planning to go to your favourite beach or river for a swim this summer?

Check the water quality of your favourite spot before you head out – we collect water samples every week from 21 sites across Marlborough. In summer the risk of catching a bug from swimming in clear water is usually low. However, after heavy rain, contamination can occur through runoff.

You can check the latest results for Marlborough’s favourite swimming spots here.

There’s also information here.

As a rule of thumb, don't swim if the water looks dirty or murky, smells or has scum on its surface.

Happy holidays!
