After several years when in each of them, he should have been named the world's best rugby player, Ardie Savea was finally awarded the title two weeks ago.
Ardie is not staying around the Sports Institute in Heretaunga for 2024 and as the leader and captain of Hurricanes as he has taken a "sabbatical" to play for big bucks in Japan.

But he will be back for the ABs in their international part of the season.

Around 2013 I was in the Cossie club in Himitangi watching Hurricanes play one of the top NZ sides in the Super rugby comp. All Black great, Julian "The Bus" Savea scored one or two of his famous tries of the time and a bloke at the club said to me that his brother was going to be an even greater player. No way I had thought.

So cometh the time, cometh the man, and Ardie has probably outdone his older brother.

An Aunt of Ardie and Julian lives in Upper Hutt and she is very proud of her nephews.

I still believe that Ardie's best position in the loose forward department is openside flanker but he has been forced to hone some of his talents towards the number 8 role.

Advice required.

James from Waikanae

I have a downpipe that is 12cm in circumference. I want to attach some sort of flexible hose/pipe to it to take the water to the nearest storm water catchment on my property. Is there someone who can suggest what I should be looking for in the hardware store?

So Christmas is coming up and one of the best things for me as a child was my mother's Christmas pudding. The recipe had been handed down from her mother, and her mother's mother, and possibly back further.

I have loaded the recipe here so that you can try it out. I recommend using Guinness, and of course serving it up with brandy poured over it and set alight. Oh and don't forget the custard. Just tell them it came from Margaret.

Cats within a suburb in Christchurch are getting fed by a neighbour or neighbours and within some of the food given are poisonous substances enough to kill some of them and make others seriously ill requiring vet attention.

This is bad and sad.

People should never feed a cat unless they know for sure that the cat is an absolute stray who is extremely and obviously hungry. I know it is difficult for some people to resist.

Less than dogs, but nonetheless, cats can suffer from food allergies and so these allergies can be from any one of the proteins (meats) or in fact all protein as well as many other types of food. So a person who feeds a wandering cat may be harming the cat seriously simply through lack of knowledge in not being the owner of the cat. Same thing here in giving a cat "treats".

Of course, giving a cat food often means that the cat will use your property as a second home.

The other thing is double dipping on food ie - the owner and a neighbour, can create unwanted obesity in a cat.

One of my son's experienced a Siamese cat coming into his stand-alone flat and he said that he didn't have any food to give the cat. Thank goodness for that. It is 100% unlikely that an expensive Siamese cat in any case is a stray.

There is a cat problem where everyone lives in NZ (there are a million cats here) apart from any new housing areas where cats are banned. There is a cat problem growing in the Wallaceville Estate in Wallaceville. More than twice a week, someone is missing their cat is one issue. Just recently on three occasions I noticed an almost pure white coated cat coming through my fenced property late at night - well into the time a cat should be kept indoors in their own owner's property.
