If we are as a community to fund a public Library, whatever its size, it must be one that everyone can access, not one that excludes groups of people who have paid through their rates for a Library but are now denied equal access, because their their search patterns are misunderstood and not being accounted for!
If we are to provide library services that all ratepayers contribute to, then it needs to be accessible by anyone who can read, traditional genre sections provide that opportunity!

The ceremony included a traditional blessing by local iwi Taranaki Whānui and formal gifting of the name Omāroro to the project.

Wellington Mayor Justin Lester and Councillor Iona Pannett also attended. Mayor Lester shared a few words on the importance of this project for the future growth and demand as well as the resilience of Wellington City.

It was great to see members of the local community as well as representatives of Wellington City Council, Wellington Water, and contractors involved in the project make their way to the ceremony.
