Railcar from Tauranga to Auckland

Philip from Maungatapu

Do people remember the railcar from Tauranga to Auckland and back in the same day. I remember it was very popular and was a lovely country side ride. Why was it stopped and why isn't it reinstated? I am sure that people would use this mode of transportation if it was available.
