We wanted to let you know about some changes to the opening hours at our Tauranga Donor Centre.
The Donor Centre will no longer be open for regular whole blood donations from 4pm on Thursdays.
The reason for this change is to enable us to meet the increasing demand across New Zealand for blood products made from plasma. A single plasma donation can be made into 13 lifesaving blood products.
To ensure we can continue to meet demand, we have decided to allocate Thursday evenings to plasma-only donors.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.
However, to accommodate more appointment times, we are starting a regular mobile blood drive for whole blood at St Peter’s Church across the road. We do hope you can continue to donate with us and look forward to seeing you at your next donation.

• No plans to … View moreHi everyone, we’re planning to close the Mauao base track before tomorrow morning’s high tide. Here's what you need to know:
• Both the base track and Moturiki (Leisure Island) will be closed from 7am Friday 5 January until conditions are suitable for reopening.
• No plans to close the summit tracks at this stage.
• We’re removing part of the beach access mat so it doesn’t get damaged. It will be reinstalled early next week.
There's also a king tide due tonight around 10pm, so please keep clear of all beaches and waterways, wherever you are along the coast or in the harbour. We’ll be keeping an eye on the wind and tides late tonight. The Mount and Papamoa beachside and holiday parks are prepped. “Proceed with caution” signs are out for now on the Mauao base track. Stay safe.

There has been a White Fantail Dove and a Barbery Dove frequenting our garden... and I have been feeding them. The White Dove is very tame and it may have lost its way .... is anyone missing either of these Doves:)

We have a trailer load of white-chip stones that we've taken out of our garden (see photo). They are good for gravel or for decorative edging in gardens. On the down-side, if you're using them for aesthetic rather than function, they'd need a good wash before they look really good again - there is soil and some river stones through them.
