The company announced it had an agreement to buy a 3.5-hectare parcel of development land at Waimak Junction for $10.5 million, conditional on receipt of resource consents and entering into a final documented agreement to lease with Woolworths NZ. The site is next to an existing McKeown’s service station.
The remaining 1.6ha would be held for future development. The total cost of the land and stage one development of the supermarket was expected to be $31m.

How to prepare chestnuts?
Put them flat side down and cut them across (very important) with a sharp knife (if you don't they will explode). Then either
1) Roast them in the oven at 250 degrees for 20 minutes or
2) Boil them in water for 20 minutes or
3) Roast them on the log burner (my personal choice) when it is NOT going at full steam for about 10 to 20 minutes (if too hot they will get burned) and turn them once.
Let them cool a bit, then shell and eat them.
They can also be used as stuffing for poultry or in various dishes with venison, or as a puree with apples or for a cake. On the internet there are plenty of recipes.
Pickup by meeting in the R.D.2 Kaiapoi area. But usually some drop off appointment within reasonable distance of Christchurch/Kaiapoi/Rangiora can be arranged. Please contact me for details before bidding.
GST invoice available, please indicate when emailing.

Would you support the introduction of MMP to local body elections?
A former Labour minister has called on the government to implement MMP as the voting system for local body elections in a bid to 'fix' local government.
Peter Neilson, an economist, is a former Labour MP for Miramar, a Minister of Revenue, Works and Associate Minister of Finance. Neilson explains how MMP could have a positive impact on civic participation after data from Internal Affairs showed a decline in voter turnout.
Around four out of 10 New Zealanders on the electoral role turned out to vote in the last set of local elections. In comparison, around seven or eight out 10 voted in the general election last year.
