Passchendaele Centenary Commemorations - 12 October
WW100 invite you to the National Commemorative Programme on 12th October to mark the Battle of Passchendaele centenary. NZ experienced one of its darkest days on 12th October 1917, with the loss of 843 soldiers. This devastating loss of life remains the highest one-day death toll suffered by NZ forces overseas.
The National Commemorative Programme in Wellington is:
3pm – National Ceremony and Belgian Memorial Unveiling – Pukeahu National War Memorial Park. A live stream of these events will be available on the WW100 website and Facebook page and screened at Te Papa (wet weather venue).
5pm – Last Post Ceremony, National War Memorial
6pm – Passchendaele Reflective Event, Te Papa
Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
