We've been making our lists and checking them twice for all kinds of doggy-related treats for you this silly season.
We've discovered the most common dog breeds in Kāpiti are labradors, with 1,100 – more than twice our second placegetter, Staffordshire bull terriers, on 473! In third spot are our 444 border collies.
Our most pup-ulous township is Paraparaumu, with 3,199 canine residents. Next up is Waikanae, where 2,073 pooches make their home, and in third place is Ōtaki, with 1,322 doggos.
And finally, the most pup-ular Kāpiti puppy names of 2022 are:
2nd equal – Luna and Buddy
And in first place – Molly!
Well done those Good Dogs!! 🐶 🐕 What's your favourite dog or puppy name?
Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
