One dead after explosion shakes Henderson
A person has died in a huge explosion at a West Auckland shed.
A Fire and Emergency NZ spokesman said at 4.55pm on Monday, three crews were called to a shed on fire in Don Buck Rd in Henderson. When Fire and Emergency NZ arrived, the shed was "well alight", the spokesman said. Police and ambulance were also at the scene, he said.
Police confirmed at 6.35pm that a body had been located. "Police are carrying out a scene examination and are working to understand the circumstances of the incident," a statement said.
Debris could be seen in the branches of a nearby tree.
"Police ask that the public avoid the area if possible while inquiries are underway." Read more here.

Night-time chipsealing works on SH2
From 9 to 17 February, stop/go traffic management will be in place on SH2 between McPherson Road and Dimmock Road on multiple nights between 9pm and 5am (Sundays to Thursdays).
During the day, all lanes will be open, but speed restrictions will apply to allow the chipseal to set and to protect vehicles travelling over the newly laid surface.
