The bar will be open plus tea and coffee supplied.

Warnings issued for tramping tracks following earthquakes, storms

The Department of Conservation is advising people to stay away from all DOC-managed tracks and conservation areas in South Marlborough and Kaikoura until further notice while damage is assessed.

The Department of Conservation is advising people to stay away from all DOC-managed tracks and conservation areas in South Marlborough and Kaikoura until further notice while damage is assessed.

- People are also advised to stay off the Clarence River which a landslide has partially blocked until it has been assessed.

- The Acheron Road through Molesworth Station is currently closed until further notice as damage to the road is still to be assessed.

- Rainbow Road through the station is also closed until further notice due to a large slip.

A rescue operation has been launched to help shell-shocked sea life on the new sea shore of the Kaikoura coast.

Thousands of paua have been thrust from their watery homes after the devastating 7.5 magnitude earthquake lifted the coastline on Monday morning.

Residents around the Kaikoura area up to Ward, in southern Marlborough, have described a rise of 2 metres, exposing sea life including paua, crayfish and leaving fish stranded and dead.

People in Kaikoura are describing the aftermath of Monday's 7.5 magnitude earthquake as "armageddon".

Our Kaikoura Star reporter Emma Dangerfield​ said the town felt isolated, though she knew pictures of the area were being beamed across the world.

"There are so many helicopters going over all the time, it's a bit like armageddon really. There's thousands of people camping in places you wouldn't normally see them, and then the rest of it is like a ghost town. The shops are closed, and things are cordoned off.
