The bypass, likely through "valuable vineyard land", would save about 680 trucks per day - mostly coming from the Picton ferries - about three minutes during peak traffic on State Highway 1, but would cost about $200 million. Read more here

Mayor John Leggett said the award recognises the work by Athfields who made a real effort to understand the community’s requirements for the building, which go far beyond a library.
“This is a space for the whole community to enjoy and the building’s design recognises that. With visitor numbers continuing to increase it’s clear people are using the facilities for a variety of programmes which is fantastic.”
