Consultation on a refreshed Sustainable Transport Strategy is now open.
In the more than 10 years since our Strategy was written we’ve seen a lot of change, from a growing population to climate change, new technologies and most recently COVID-19. So we're updating it to help us continue to plan our transport future.
A transport system has an impact on our day to day life and our ability to do the things we want and need to, whether that’s doing the shopping, getting to the doctors, school or work, or getting out to enjoy our beautiful environment.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
