Are you a Kapiti local, available for four hours a week to provide Domestic Housekeeping duties for a family of 6?

Heather from Waikanae

Think more Alice from the Brady Bunch than Sadie the Cleaning lady…
My client is looking for the following super star:

Due to our wonderful person resigning to go on an epic life adventure – time frame unknown, we are looking for a housekeeper/cleaner/person who can get to know us and can make our house livable each week. We are a busy family of 6 with dogs, cats, chickens and goldfish so it will be no small task. This is not just a cleaning job, it is about making the family home livable and functional for how we live.
Purpose and scope of role
Weekly 4 hour house clean plus domestic administration duties. Examples provided below are not an exhaustive list and duties will be discussed and agreed in advance. Please note, there is no expectation that all of these listed duties would be done every week - it is whatever is needed and is agreed and that can be completed within the four hours. The list is an example of the kind of work required.
- laundry (washing / hanging / drying / folding / putting away)
- tidying / organising / throwing shit out / putting things away where they belong (including seasonal items back into the loft)
- updating shopping list when things run out (cleaning supplies, loo paper etc. not the food stuff)
- spring cleaning (windows, skirting boards etc.)

Person specification
You will be physically capable of the work required, comfortable working both on your own or with someone home (usually just one adult working from home)
You will be able to effectively clean, organise, arrange etc. the various spaces in the house to suit the needs and functions of our family
You will have good references and experience in a similar role (not necessarily cleaning as you may have transferable skills and experience)
You will be reliable and conscientious, communicating when you are unable to come because you are ill or have upcoming periods of leave of absence.
You will be a non-smoker (this is not negotiable)
Location
Nikau Valley, Paraparaumu.

Remuneration
The rate of pay is $30 per hour. You will be paid as a contractor (not employee) for time worked only and are therefore responsible for your own tax responsibilities, sick days, holidays etc.

Preferred day of service is Wednesday but this is negotiable. Additional duties / hours available and will be discussed and agreed in advance.

Additional notes
If you have a dog(s) that gets on well with others, we welcome you to bring them with you while you work - pending introductions between the animals go well:-)

How to apply
If you think you have the skills that fit the brief and want to apply, please contact Heather Knewstubb on 022 394 8493 or heather@timegenie.co.nz by EOB Friday 8 December 2023.

June's Weather right on Average

Murray from Paraparaumu

June in Kāpiti saw a return to normal temperatures following an unusually cold May. It was also relatively dry, and sunnier than average. We continued to avoid the serious storms again affecting northern and eastern areas of the North Island.

Our daily average maximum temperature of 14.8C was exactly the same as the longtime average, but a degree below June 2023, which was unusually warm. Kāpiti-Horowhenua was again the warmest district in central New Zealand, with eastern areas and Wellington the coolest. Our overall mean temperature of 11.3C was also the highest. There were only a couple of very light frosts recorded.

Our equivalent of 17 sunny days, was three above average, and once again there was a rain shortfall with 70mm (airport) being 70 percent of average, however, a little more than June 2023 that only got 8mm.

Figures show July’s weather is usually fairly similar to June’s, and only a little cooler, but not cold enough to prevent the onset of spring usually evident in August.
