I’m running evening classes, 7pm-9pm, from my Waikanae studio on every Monday in May – a block of five in total, starting on Monday. There is still spce in this short course. The aim is to create a collage work in the last weeks, using a mix of hand painted and printed papers along with magazine cut-outs. The subject matter will be the written form. Great patterns can be generated from playing around with text so that it’s unreadable and that’s called asemic art. I’ll be teaching a range of art making techniques – trace monoprinting, Gelli-plate printing, stencilling and calligraphic mark making among others. Materials for you to use include GOLDEN’s OPEN Acrylics and High Flow, Yupo , Zeta and tissue paper, a range of inks, calligraphy pens, quills and a wide range of drawing materials. The group size will be limited to 6 people. No previous art experience is necessary! Details on my website. www.stokes.net.nz...

Painted glass bottles make a stylish display on their own or with the addition of dried foliage. The paint is on the inside so they still have that lovely glass sheen. Use Resene testpots to co-ordinate with your home's colour palette.
Find out how to create your own.
