Neighbours Day - NZ's biggest celebration of neighbourliness

The Team from Kāpiti Coast District Council

Neighbours' Day (20-30 March 2021) is all about building new connections and holding fun, local get-togethers to meet people that live in your community.

The most popular way is an 'Over the Fence Cuppa' to get to know your neighbours a little better. Knowing the people near you strengthens our community ties, and creates safer and more resilient communities.

If you'd like to run a 'Over the Fence Cuppa' or local event and receive a goodie bag from Council to help, please email Neighbours.Day@kapiticoast.govt.nz by 17 March.

Hosts can go in to a draw to win a 105L water tank and a Grab & Go bag donated by Wellington Region Emergency Management Office (WREMO). With COVID-19 still a potential risk, in-person events will only go ahead under Alert Levels 1 and 2.

Scam Alert: Bank cold calls

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

ASB is warning customers about reports of cold calls from scammers claiming to be from ASB. These scammers are trying to obtain personal information, including usernames, dates of birth, and verification codes sent to your mobile phone.

🛡️ The "Caller Check" Test
If you get a call from someone claiming to be from ASB and you’re unsure, just ask them for a Caller Check. You will then be able to verify the call through the app.

Remember, banks will:
❌ Never ask for your banking passwords, PINs, or verification codes
❌ Never need to know your full credit card number – especially the CVC
❌ Never ask you to download software or remotely access your device
❌ Never ask you to purchase gift cards or transfer funds.

If you have received a phone call and think your account has been compromised, call ASB on 0800 ASB FRAUD (0800 272 372), or visit your local branch.
