Hi everyone,
Now that summer's finally here and the holidays are just around the corner for many, we'd love to hear about your favourite summer holiday memories. Has there been a trip that you continue to think about years later? Where did you go, with who and what did you get up to? What made it such a stand-out experience? The Western Bay of Plenty District Council is warning its community about drought conditions. We are in the same boat and continue to monitor developments.

Recent rain is easing the pressure on our water supply somewhat but not enough to change the outlook. This summer will be hot and humid, and how we use our water will determine the need for water restrictions.

Let’s make every day a water conservation day.

We regularly review our City Plan to monitor it’s effectiveness and to respond to any emerging issues.

Our housing shortage is a good example. As we grow, we need to ensure we have enough homes for people to live in and housing types to accommodate our changing population. To allow Tauranga to grow up as well as out and enable more housing choice, our City Plan rules need to make it easier to provide for more types of housing.

Head over to our website to find out what we’re proposing and have your say.

Remember, what you do with your house or land is up to you – but the proposed changes would open up a wealth of opportunity for our community and our city over time.

This affects all properties in Tauranga.

The Flood Plan 27 submissions are due on 18 December 2020. If your property is affected, this will be added to your LIM and may affect the resale value and insurance of your property.

This is very short time period for such a far reaching plan. A group of community ratepayers are asking for an extension of the submission period to 30 April 2020

so that the residents can fully understand the implications and make meaningful submissions.

How to achieve this is difficult as councillors are now unable to do this request with the imminent appointment of a commissioner.

Contacting the CEO at Tauranga City Council seems the only option available and the PRRA has set up a web page with a form letter which can be sent directly to him after adding your name and email.

It can be found at www.papamoaprogressive.co.nz...

Recently we have been taking care of (fixing) curtains that have been put in the washing machine. There are a number of reasons why this is a terrible idea.

Firstly, we take many measures to ensure your curtains get as clean as possible without shrinkage or colour loss. Recently we have had to re-wash curtains that have been washed but there is still traces of mould or live mould left on the curtain. We take careful steps to ensure this is eliminated as much as possible on the curtain fabric, and can always remove it from linings. These results are simply unable to be duplicated in a home environment.

Spray on curtain cleaning products contain sodium hypochlorite, aka bleach. If you use products to remove mould, it can result in colour loss. This is one of the more common problems we have seen. We test all fabric before cleaning to be sure of what cleaners can be used with it.

Washing curtains in the washing machine can result in other damage – curtains need to be handled with care, especially older fabrics. It is expensive getting a curtain re-lined due to rips – we take extra care in preventing this from happening.

In addition to the above – most of the time, they will come out of the machine wrinkly and look terrible, no matter the fabric type. Our service ensures they look great and ‘like new’ as they can when returned to you (and of course, fresh and clean).

Don’t make the same mistake, call us (the experts) instead.
