I don’t like the taste of most tap water. I find Kapiti water often has a chemical taste, so I prefer to drink bottled water (for which I am criticised… lol). Is it just me, or do others find our water distasteful?

Wonky Box is a subscription food delivery service run by Angus Simms and Katie Jackson, delivering odd-shaped and excess fresh produce, grown locally in Kāpiti and Wairarapa, to homes around Wellington.
Since Wonky Box launched ahead of the August 2021 lockdown it has grown a customer base of nearly 500 Wellington homes, saving 20 tonnes of food from landfill during the latest lockdown alone.

Somehow in the last couple of years, time has stretched yet stalled in ways most of us can’t quite comprehend: it seems as though the initial pandemic lockdown was only yesterday.
The ongoing impacts of Covid-19 and the restrictions and life changes it has brought about has shaped all aspects of life: including property design and development, and the way we choose to furnish our homes.
A Touch of the 70s: The 90s may currently be the retro kickback in clothing fashion, but the 70s is about to make its comeback for interior design. This vintage theme will not be the bold patterned wallpaper and aubergine coloured bathroom fittings you’ve only just stripped from your grandparents’ home but instead suggestions and colour pops of burnt orange, moss greens and other warm neutrals.
Items to lend these pops of brightness and patterns can be found at local flea markets, antique stores and junkyards. Routinely visiting these places and keeping an eye out for 70s pieces online can help you find lots of complementary items to mix and match and provide a retro flair.
Bringing the Outside, In: The houseplant trend we saw bloom through 2021 is set to continue through 2022. Bringing authentic greenery into the home has been proven to improve internal air quality, promote endorphins and, well, to make the place look great!
Retailers have moved with the increased demand for houseplants and most now stock a good variety to cater for everyone, so there’s something for every room and every capability of green fingers. A sweetheart plant is a versatile climber happy in shaded rooms, hole-y monstera plants with their unique cut-out leaves thrive in low-light interiors, fiddle leaf fig trees are hardy and bushy but need lots of sun, and snake plants only need infrequent watering to flourish.

“Today is the two-year adoptaversay of Klio and Quintus (Charlotte and Quinn). How pawsome! We wanted to let you know that they are both doing very well. Klio went from being very shy to now insisting on always being on our laps. Always. Even to the point of trying to get up before we have fully sat down. Quintus was diagnosed with diabetes last January, but has responded very well to the insulin injections and continues to be quite chatty and fluffy. Wishing you all well, and thank you again to the whole team -- your mahi and aroha make such a difference in the lives of kitties and humans alike.”

Perhaps I should post some photos of all the bulbs and plants they have dug up around here. The Muscari they dug up, not once, but three times. The Azaleas they ripped out. The Dahlia bulbs.... The fruit trees they have stripped. The potatoes and carrots they have dug up, (taking a bite out of each one). The poop they leave everywhere, fouling up our paddocks and making grazing impossible.
Most distressing is the way they swoop in and slaughter our precious native ducks and threatened grey teal. I hear the ducklings screaming as they are carried off and ripped apart, and there is nothing I can do to save them as cant get to them in time. Pukekos, in my view, are the most troublesome, gruesome, destructive birds imaginable.
